English Composition (III)英文作文(三)
一、課程概述
The goal of this course is to develop and improve second-year English composition skills. As an advanced program of college English composition, this course aims to train the students to compose a whole essay with organized structure, clear thesis statement and topic sentence, along with the usage of specific examples. To achieve this end, students will learn a variety of professional writing (academic and analytic writing included), namely, ①“exemplification essay,” ② “comparison/contrast essay,” ③ argument essay (pls counter-argument paragraph) and then ④ “film review essay.” Throughout the course, we will not just enhance students’ writing abilities, accurate usage of grammar, and organization of their structure. Additionally, various exercises will be added to the class. Students will learn how to write a clear thesis statement and how to draw upon specific examples to each essay.

1.Each student must attend the class regularly. I will call your name when the class starts after five minutes
2. Each student just has four times to apply leaving throughout the whole semester; over the quota, except for family or medial emergency, you should not be absent without providing any proofs of leaving within two weeks. 全學期可以提請假四次,之後請假除了家庭或醫療以及重要事故 (含公假) ,必須提供相關證明方與准假。缺席者限2周內提出申請銷假, 逾時不予受理。Proof of leave must be submitted (within a week) with a 250-word report in English to explain your absence. Lateness for class may be considered as absence without leave.
3. Format of writings: (Times New Roman 12, 1.5 space; at least 500 words in length); They have to be submitted (uploaded) to e-course forum (教學課程平台) before 5:00 pm on the due date. In addition, a hard copy has to be turned in at the beginning of the class on the due date.
4. Evaluation:
1. Class activities and attendance 10% 2. Group Report 20%
3. Peer Review 20% 4. Four Writing assignments 50%
