Now that everyone is finally on eCourse, we need to catch up with everything.

**If you have decided not to take this class, please drop it - if you will take it, please do the following as soon as possible:

The end of the Class 1 PPT  lists the 5 things you need to do to prepare for the class:

1) Fill out the 'self-introduction' sheet under the homework category, so I know what your expectations are for the class

2) Download the textbook from the library website

3) Find 3 exemplar articles - primary journal articles, not 'review' or 'letter' or 'conference paper' or from predatory journals - see the details in the ppt (slides 75-94), and textbook (section 1-4)

4) Submit the articles to Homework/'Exemplar articles': 3 articles (pdf, filename = short title) and a file listing the three articles' references (Word .doc) - see details in textbook, homework for chapter 1, and on the assignment page. Even if you submitted these by email, please upload the final articles here, as this is the official submission and record for grading in the course.

5) Read chapter 2 of the textbook (or use the audio ppt or MOOC) if you were not here this week

If you were not in class week 2, you will have to do Exercise 2.1 on your own. Decide whether your articles are IMRD, IPTC, or other format, and make tables showing the division, section titles, paragraph numbers, word count, and percent. If you are not sure what to do, ask the instructor, TA, or classmate, rather than wasting your time doing the wrong thing

The end of the Class 2 PPT lists the assignments for this week:

3) Do exercise 2.1 for all three articles. Bring your work to class

1) Read chapter 3, be ready to discuss the 'Evaluate your Understanding' questions in class next week

2) Read your 3 exemplar articles, so you are ready to identify their 'components' in class next week
