This course aims to introduce students from outside the field of political science the concepts which are the core of one of the most influential forms of government in recent human history which is democracy. In this course students will be exposed to the historical foundations of this form of government and will proceed on into different sections. This includes a survey of the its philosophical groundings and then moving on to contemporary understandings and themes in terms of what it means to have a democracy. The course will then move to categories and varieties of democracy. The course will also be looking at the elements of democracy and ending with an analysis of the of future trends.
