授課目的乃是藉由介紹與聆賞歐美、台灣與印尼不同國家之音樂風格，課程主軸將橫跨世界七大國家，分別為德國、奧國、英國、芬蘭、美國、印尼、台灣，相互比較與探討每個國家的代表作曲家與其作品風格，並與國內外流行音樂產業、傳播影視媒體做連結，討論其創作風格之關聯與差異。課堂中也詳細介紹此七個國家之文化與音樂間的相互影響，並透過影片欣賞當地民俗音樂與舞蹈，使學生能深刻瞭解並體悟到世界文化發展與音樂間的相輔相成。
The main content of this course will be focused on the stylistic discussions of different musical repertoire and their historical culture in the world. The topics include the illustrations of traditional musical elements and the performing styles for various local instruments from Germany, Austria, Indonesia, Finland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Taiwan with comparisons to the popular music industry and public media worldwide. The representing composers and their distinctive musical styles will also be mentioned during the class.
