課程分為三個部分介紹當代的藝術發展與設計潮流，最後綜合討論藝術與設計之異同及關聯性。

第一部分為20世紀及21世紀的藝術發展，簡述從印象畫派開始至以杜象為首的達達藝術及普普藝術的風格轉變及代表藝術家。最後介紹台灣的當代藝術發展及藝術家作品。

第二部分從19世紀受到工業化生產影響後開始出現的藝術與工藝運動開始談起，討論在設計史深具代表性的包浩斯、現代主義及極簡主義等，分析風格特色以及對現代設計的影響。

第三部分為藝術與設計的綜合討論，從前面課程所介紹的藝術與設計簡史做為出發，思考藝術與設計的相同與相異之處，分別用藝術的角度來看設計，以及用設計理性的思考來分析藝術作品。

教學目標：藉由介紹當代藝術與設計具代表性之派別與作品，增進學生的美學知識，不將生活中所見所得視為理所當然，學習用分析的角度來觀看藝術作品，不再覺得看不懂藝術。

The course is divided into three parts to introduce the development of contemporary art and design trends. It concludes with an integrated discussion on the similarities, differences, and interconnections between art and design.

Part One covers the development of art in the 20th and 21st centuries, briefly outlining the stylistic transitions and representative artists from the Impressionist movement to Dadaism, led by Marcel Duchamp, and Pop Art. This section ends with an introduction to the development of contemporary art in Taiwan and selected works by Taiwanese artists.

Part Two begins with the Arts and Crafts Movement, which emerged in response to industrialized production in the 19th century. It discusses key movements in design history, such as the Bauhaus, Modernism, and Minimalism, analyzing their stylistic features and influence on modern design.

Part Three offers an integrated discussion of art and design. Building upon the brief histories introduced in the previous sections, this part explores the similarities and differences between art and design. Students will learn to view design from an artistic perspective and to analyze art using the rational thinking associated with design.

Through the introduction of influential movements and works in contemporary art and design, this course aims to enhance students’ aesthetic knowledge. It encourages students to question the visual culture they encounter in everyday life and to view art with a more analytical mindset—no longer feeling that art is incomprehensible.
