The first half of the course focuses on deep reading and critical thinking. It begins with foundational skills such as skimming, scanning, and outline building, then gradually advances to critical reading and comparative analysis of paired texts, and ultimately applies these competencies to modern media literacy. The goal is for students to break down complex texts, evaluate the credibility of information, and integrate all reading skills through oral presentations based on professional articles.
The second half of the course emphasizes strategic, practical writing. Starting with basic conventions such as punctuation and formal written style, it extends to functional genres including emails, autobiographical statements, and social media copywriting, with critical writing that constructs a personal viewpoint as the culminating objective.
