The primary goal of this course is for students to understand a wide array of criminological theories as well as different patterns of crime and criminals (with emphasis on causes, effects, and prevention) and analyze criminological theories in practical application.
Students can thus apply criminological theories to explain crime problems in real-life situations. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1) To facilitate the ability to focus on thinking about the causes of crime.
2) To obtain a familiarity with the motives, causes, and correlates of crime and deviant behavior.
3) To explore information on crime and deviant behavior through films and documentaries, which may reflect some features of crime-related issues in realistic lives.
4) To develop abilities to apply theoretical concepts to approximately real-life circumstances
