This course is mainly for a broad spectrum of graduate students who are interested in materials science, nanoscience and technology, materials and surface analysis, and chemical and biochemical sensors. It will introduce the basic concepts of materials science, nanoscience, nanomaterials, methods for materials and surface analysis, principles of chemo sensing platforms, and how materials being applied to chemo sensing. Students who successfully complete this course should have: (1) An understanding of the fundamental of materials science, nanoscience and technology, and nanomaterials. (2) An understanding of the materials and surface analysis methods. (3) An understanding of the principles of chemo sensing platforms. (4) An understanding of how materials used in chemo sensing.
