This course focuses on developing students' academic reading abilities across a range of academic disciplines. Students will be guided to apply a variety of reading skills and strategies, including identifying main ideas, recognizing cause-and-effect relationships, managing unfamiliar vocabulary, analyzing text organization, and interpreting complex grammatical structures commonly found in academic texts. The course also aims to expand students' academic vocabulary and foster critical thinking skills through evaluating and synthesizing information from extensive reading materials. In addition, students will develop basic academic writing skills to support their comprehension and expression of academic ideas, while gradually improving reading speed and efficiency.
