1. Course Description (課程概述)
The course aims to provide students with skills of understanding contemporary international affairs within the scope of history, international affairs, and global perspectives. The course will be organized according to key issues concerning the world today, e.g. the pandemics, wars, gender equality, racial justice, and the climate change in the context of history. The dialogues between society of the past and that of today would open up tentative discussions for students to understand contemporary conflicts, developments and issues and to defend intellectual judgements according to appropriate academic evidence and sources in history. Secondly, it is the course’s objective to teach students how to evaluate the content of printed and electronic information sources. Finally, students will improve their English proficiency in reading, listening and speaking through engaging with the course materials. The course will be carried out through lectures, small group teamwork, and course quizzes.

Looking at international incidents with a historical perspective, students will explore the significance of global conflicts and learn how to identify issues close to home.

2. Course Goal(教學目標)
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
 Demonstrate an understanding of international affairs in the context of world history.
 Examine issues of contemporary war and conflicts through critical lens and from a range of historical perspectives.
 Assess changing patterns of contemporary affairs and the way in which these affairs are understood.
 Employ intellectual skills to understand international and social issues with a global perspective.
 Improve English proficiency and became acquainted with the diversity of international cultures.
