This course introduces first-year Master's students to the core practices of literary studies and helps them develop academic research skills essential for producing seminar papers, MA theses, and future scholarly work. Students will learn to engage critically with primary literary texts, formulate researchable questions, and construct nuanced, well-supported arguments. The course will also guide students in conducting library and database research, evaluating and integrating scholarly sources, and situating one's argument within ongoing critical conversations. Through a series of scaffolded assignments culminating in a final research paper, students will develop the methodological tools needed to undertake sustained literary research within their chosen field of study.
