Humans are born with the ability to use language. While language processing seems effortless and easy, we often forget that it's actually a complex process requiring significant mental effort. In this class, we will explore how human beings use language.

The course covers four key areas in psycholinguistics: language processing (speech perception, lexical processing, sentence processing, language production, etc.), experimental methods (experiments and basic statistics, etc.), brain-related research (brain anatomy, aphasia, related brain research, etc.), and language acquisition (first language acquisition, multilingual acquisition, and disordered language acquisition, including two guest lectures). We will be reading current research to understand these different areas.
