本課程旨在使學生了解漢語歷代共同語的音韻系統，並掌握其演變的規律，以了解古今漢語的特徵以及現代漢語的源流。礙於課程時數有限，講述重點集中於中古以及近代、現代之語音，上古音依實際情形調整份量。聲韻學（二）的進度，延續上學期課程中之中古音內容，並延伸至擬音方法、上古音、近代音等部分內容。
課程內容包括：漢語歷史語音演變及音韻系統之認識、漢語方言分歧現象之認識、文學體裁如詩詞歌賦之聲韻應用等，期盼學生除了能建立漢語歷代音韻學之專業知識之外，也能建立實際的應用能力，進而提升對於傳統文學體裁之解讀與欣賞能力。此外，並期能幫助學生銜接語言學各種領域之相關知識，建構語言研究的基礎能力，以及培養語言學、音韻學之推論思考模式。

This course aims to help students understand the phonological systems of Chinese across different historical periods and grasp the principles underlying their evolution. It also explores the characteristics of ancient and modern Chinese and the origins of modern Chinese dialects. Due to the limited duration of the course, the focus is placed on medieval, modern, and contemporary pronunciations.
The course covers the historical evolution of Chinese phonology, the structure of its phonological systems, the divergence of Chinese dialects, and the application of phonological knowledge to literary genres such as poetry and songs. Students are expected to develop a solid foundation in phonology from various Chinese dynasties and acquire practical skills to apply this knowledge. These skills will enhance their ability to interpret and appreciate traditional literary works. Additionally, the course seeks to connect phonological knowledge with other linguistic disciplines, build essential language research skills, and foster critical thinking and inferential reasoning in linguistics and phonology.
