古代散文不僅彰顯了卓越的文學藝術價值，同時蘊含了深邃的學術思想與哲理。深入探討古典散文的世界，不僅能讓人欣賞到中國文學的精緻與雅致，還能深度了解古代學術的精髓與奧秘。本課程精選自先秦至清代的經典散文，按照主題進行探討，旨在揭示傳統文人及其作品的獨特風采和內心世界，從而映照出當代人文的時空背景及其歷史風貌。此外，本課程亦深入觀察中國古代散文與傳統士人在文化、政治、社會等方面的多元互動與時代呼應。本課程分為上下學期兩部分，下學期從「愛情」、「金石」、「博物」、「兵法」、「罵詈」與「試場」等主題入手，引導學生深度閱讀和研究古典文學中的經典之作，讓學生對古典文學的深層意涵有更全面的理解與認識，並省思現代生活。此外，本課程設有寫作練習課程，期望提升學生的古文創作與分析能力，為進一步的學術深造奠定堅實的基礎。
Classical Chinese prose is distinguished not only by its refined literary artistry but also by its profound intellectual and philosophical depth. Engaging closely with classical prose allows readers to appreciate the elegance and sophistication of Chinese literary expression while gaining insight into the foundations of traditional scholarship and thought. This course offers a thematic exploration of representative prose works from the pre-Qin period through the Qing dynasty, with the aim of highlighting the distinctive voices, sensibilities, and inner worlds of traditional literati authors, as well as the historical and cultural contexts in which they wrote.

By examining classical prose in relation to the cultural, political, and social roles of scholar-officials, the course investigates the dynamic interactions between literary expression and the broader structures of premodern Chinese society. The curriculum is divided into two semesters. The second semester focuses on selected themes—including love, epigraphy and antiquarian studies, natural history, military thought, invective, and the civil service examination system—to guide students in close reading and in-depth analysis of canonical prose texts. Through these thematic lenses, students will develop a more comprehensive understanding of the deeper meanings of classical literature while reflecting on its relevance to modern life.

In addition to textual analysis, the course incorporates writing workshops designed to strengthen students’ abilities in both classical-style composition and critical analysis. By combining close reading with guided writing practice, the course aims to build a solid foundation for advanced study and research in classical Chinese literature.
