文化與一個民族、與人們的生活有著密不可分的關係，文化反映民族的思維與表達，至今已經累積許多的理論與觀察範例。本課程從文化學的理論說起，論及文化概念的理解、文化身分問題，文化與民族性問題、文化與權力問題、文化及語言問題、視覺文化等，並試圖延伸至學生能切身感知的在地文化議題。
課程內容主要聚焦在基礎理論的建構，以及實例之閱讀與分析，偶而也會穿插東亞歷史材料。透過教科書中的案例、近年的學界研究、以及日常生活中所遭遇的文化現象，引導學生探索生活周邊的文化特色。

Culture is inextricably linked to ethnicity and people's lives. It reflects a nation's thinking and expression, and has accumulated numerous theories and examples. This course begins with cultural studies theories, discussing the understanding of artistic concepts, issues of cultural identity, the relationship between culture and ethnicity, culture and power, and culture and language. It also attempts to extend to local cultural issues that students can personally experience.
The course content primarily focuses on building foundational theories and reading case studies, occasionally incorporating materials from East Asian history. Through textbook examples, recent research, and cultural phenomena encountered in daily life, the course guides students to explore the cultural characteristics of their surroundings.
