Technology-assisted Language Learning科技輔助語言教學
一、課程概述
This course aims to introduce theories and applications of digital English teaching/learning to pre-/in-service teachers. Various freeware/shareware will be introduced and devised to explore CALL-related pedagogies for multiple literacies, required abilities for new student generations. The interdisciplinary nature of course content drawn from cognition (educational psychology), technology, and SLA theories through a hands-on learning approach will expand students’ imagination, creativity and unveil possibilities of digital, multimedia material design and production with user-friendly technology. Hands-on practice, learning modules, projects, and presentations will replace quizzes, midterm and final exams for assessment purposes. Task and material designs will be tackled from both teacher and student perspectives. Peer/User feedback will often serve the purpose of practicality evaluation.
Students will form study groups (SIG: special interest group) to delve into self-chosen research interests: grammar, listening, reading, writing, speaking, tool…etc. In the meantime, the instructor will often demonstrate how technology-assisted learning activities are designed and implemented through new digital tools, for the students to understand how theories and practices are mutually supported.
