This course aims to equip students with the knowledge of British Romanticism and the noted poetic techniques in this discourse and age. This course’s subject matter contains major topics, such as roots of lyric, formation of fantasy, semiotic themes, aesthetic issues, romantic irony in philosophy, which are all representative of British Romanticism’s literary spirit, and crucial of its socio-political backgrounds. Students in this course must undertake weekly reading, and do one oral report on the assigned critical essays and their related literary works.
