課程介紹與教學目標 Course Description and Objectives
The Applied Literature project aims to enable students to develop and manage a cultural association that edits, publishes and promotes a magazine and podcasts, organizes and manages events such as readings, guest speakers, music performances, theatrical performances, movie screenings and more. This will demonstrate some of the ways literary study can be applied in a practical way.

It will be taught in practically focused, student led seminar sessions. These will focus on particular aspects of managing the association – which will include organizing and operating a mailing list and social media accounts, managing meetings, using publishing software, designing and printing posters and other promotional materials, contacting guest speakers and performers by email, promotion, audio-visual equipment operation, compering and door-keeping. All skills will be learned ‘on-the-job’, and students can pick and choose the particular skills they wish to develop, and will be dependent on student numbers.

Assessment will be based on a self and peer assessment, and contribution overall to a final group project, in addition to a portfolio that includes:
1.a pre-course expectation report, where the student will set out what they expect to gain from the course and the areas they would like to focus
2. A final report, where student write what they have gained from their experiences, and how much they feel they have contributed
Learning Objectives:

1) Develop and utilize range of skills based on the dissemination of literature
2) Learn teamworking skills
3) Learn to work and develop independently
4) Develop skills in oversight, independent decision making and leadership
5) To equip the students with the ability to make editorial decisions
6) To understand the possibilities of applying literature to practical situations
