Students will be introduced to language development over the life course, from childhood (age 0-3) to late adulthood to adolescence, (age-65 and older), covering both normal and abnormal development. The focus will on the basic understanding of various kinds of language disability, including speech disorders, language disorders, and communication disorders. In each stage of development, physiological and neurological underpinnings will also be briefly explained. Standard measurements of disorders and alternative treatments will also be introduced.
