• This course introduces students to some basic concepts and techniques of the semantic theory in the generative linguistics.
• The goal of the course is to help students to learn how to understand formal semantic representations that explain linguistic phenomena.
• With the instructor, students will try to explore semantic and syntax-semantics interface issues, especially such issues in Mandarin Chinese, compared with the languages that are discussed in the classic semantic literature.
• Readings will be announced in the classes.
• Lecture handouts will be distributed in the classes.
