Introduction to Humanities and Societies(II)人文與社會通論(二)
一、課程概述
This course explores human behavior from culture to society and economy across time and places, with the aim to reflect on important issues faced by human societies and to develop critical thinking in daily lives. In the first part students will learn how to cultivate the sociological imagination through examining how everyday lives are shaped by social forces beyond our control and awareness. The topics will encompass basic sociological theories and concepts to challenge what we see as “normal,” to more complicated issues such as inequality and globalization. The second part applies core economic principles to the practical challenges of starting a new business or expanding an existing one. It bridges the gap between economic theory and real-world strategic decision-making, offering students a toolkit to evaluate competitive environments and make informed business choices. By applying theories to real-world problems, the course provides essential foundations for students to think critically about the social world around us.
