This course focuses on reading and communicating effectively in English at the college level, with the aim to familiarize students with English expressions in professional settings, to introduce reading strategies for English news, to improve the comprehension of current affairs and to enhance the delivery of clear messages in business occasions such as networking, presentations, meetings and negotiations. In doing so, the course also features different types of news articles, covering topics such as politics, business, technology, society, environment, sports, etc. As the course targets interactive student involvement and collaborative learning in class activities, students are expected to finish homework, exercises and assignments before coming to the class, and are required to prepare short presentations and dialogues based on the lesson topics.
