本課程介紹當代西方英美哲學基本的哲學議題及概念，透過課堂討論的方式讓修課學生認識哲學家關心的議題，以及哲學家的工作與論述方式。本課程探討當代分析哲學領域中重要的研究議題，主題包含：知識、客觀與主觀、語言與意義、真理、心與認知、人工智慧、科學、自由意志、自我意識、道德兩難…等。期望同學們在修習本課程後，能夠對哲學有基本的認識，並進而對哲學產生興趣；以及，學習到哲學分析思辨與論證的能力，並將提問及問題解決之能力運用到其他專業領域及公共議題的討論上。

This course introduces fundamental philosophical issues and concepts in contemporary Western philosophy. Through classroom discussions, students will become familiar with the questions that concern philosophers, as well as the methods and styles of philosophical inquiry and argumentation. The course explores key topics within the field of contemporary analytic philosophy, including knowledge, objectivity and subjectivity, language and meaning, truth, mind and cognition, artificial intelligence, science, free will, self-consciousness, and moral dilemmas, among others.

By the end of this course, students are expected to develop a basic understanding of philosophy and foster an interest in the subject. They will also learn skills in philosophical analysis, critical thinking, and argumentation, and be able to apply their abilities in questioning and problem-solving to their own fields of expertise and to discussions on public issues.
