企圖對世界歷史作一種縱觀，由文明的創造與傳播、「文明」與「野蠻」的互動、古代世界的主要文明，以及文明間的平衡發展來顯示處在農業社會下世界歷史的發展。近代以後，則是以工商業社會發展的強權、現代化與全球化為主軸，以明瞭近代世界歷史演變的軌跡。
The aim of the course is to provide a general perspective of world history, highlighting the development of history in agrarian societies through the creation and diffusion of civilizations, the interaction between civilization and barbarism, the major ancient civilizations, and the balanced development among them. From the modern era onward, the focus shifts to the rise of powerful industrial and commercial societies, modernization, and globalization, in order to clarify the historical evolution in the modern age.
