1. In order to accommodate the design of fundamental Financial Management course in the College of Management, this class will be divided into two semester courses. However, I will be retired on February 1, 2027. I recommend you could take new faculty from our department who offer Financial Management (2) in Spring semester. A comprehensive learning of the finance subjects should be very helpful for your career.
2. In Fall Semester, we will help students to understand the basic corporate financial decisions. These include the concepts of Valuation, Risk and Return, CAPM&APT, Bond and Stock Valuation, Capital Budgeting, Financial Statement Analysis and Working Capital Management. In the Spring Semester from new faculty, the course should cover those subjects including Market Efficiency, Cost of Capital, Long term Financing, Dividends Policy, Capital Structure Decisions, Merger & Acquisitions, International Finance and Corporate Control. The fall semester course will be a required course for students in the department of Business Administration and the spring semester course will be an elective course.
3. The big change of my teaching pedagogy in this semester is I am going to allow student to use AI regularly in the lecture. I used to lecture the content of each subject in every class. Instead, I am going to ask you to use your cell phone or laptop computer to search the content of subject in the class and answer my questions during the class. Your participation is very important and it is your responsibility to have proper smart phone or laptop computer in each class. A short note of each chapter from the textbook will also be provided on e-course before or after each lecture.
