課程概述:
Location-based services (LBS) are information services based on the geographical
locations of wireless carries exploiting some existing techniques (such as IEEE
802.11x networks, cellular communications and GPS sensors) for knowing where a
user is located. The location-based service examples might be:
‧Finding the nearest ATM machine or all the restaurants within five kilometers.
‧Requesting the real-time traffic information around the road segment of a mobile
user.
‧Receiving the advertisements and sales offers.
The course introduces the background knowledge about the location-based services
and the key concepts of advanced topics in spatial/temporal database systems, query
processing, indexing, mobility data management, and location privacy protection
for supporting location-based services. This course presents the empirical
techniques by providing both the traditional and state-of-the-art approaches. The
course materials will be drawn from the classic and recent research literature.
