This course is designed to strengthen students’ academic reading proficiency through targeted skill development and extensive practice. Students will build a robust academic vocabulary and apply effective reading strategies such as identifying main ideas and supporting details, understanding words in context, recognizing collocations, and outlining key information. Emphasis is placed on enhancing reading speed and comprehension while fostering critical thinking skills through inference and text-to-text or text-to-world connections. In addition, the course supports students in developing foundational academic writing skills, preparing them for success in academic reading tasks and standardized assessments.
