This course builds on students’ academic communication skills with a focus on critical thinking and effective discussion. Through engaging content such as authentic TED Talks and a variety of academic readings, students will develop listening and reading strategies to support thoughtful participation in academic contexts. Emphasis is placed on consolidating academic vocabulary and using it purposefully in speaking tasks and seminar-style discussions. Students will learn to lead and participate in group discussions respectfully and confidently, articulating their viewpoints while considering alternative perspectives. The course also equips students with practical strategies for facilitating discussions and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
