This course is designed to help students improve their listening skills in English, especially for academic settings. Throughout the semester, students will listen to different types of academic lectures with a strong focus on the logical organization of spoken academic texts.

The course will teach important listening strategies, such as predicting, identifying main ideas and supporting details, recognizing signaling language, and checking if they understand what they hear. Students will also learn new academic words and practice taking notes in ways that help them better understand and summarize the lecture content.

To boost students' confidence in academic discussions, the course incorporates practice with authentic materials and the delivery of formal presentations. This course prepares students to respond thoughtfully to various perspectives, articulate their own ideas clearly, and actively participate in intellectual dialogues in English.
