We will examine a wide range of literary texts concerning Robin Hood and King Arthur arranged in chronological order from the Anglo-Saxon period up to the Tudor dynasty. Selected works are to show the rich diversity of Celtic myths and Celtic legends across the European continent and Britain. Specific passages will be introduced and discussed in class. A special attention will focus on modern critical approaches to folklore as literature. We will also have one to two guest speakers to lecture on literary theories and practices.

weekly written reports (50%)
group oral reports (mid-term & final 20% each)
