This course introduces students to methods and strategies for actively reading literary texts across the three primary genres: fiction, poetry, and drama. Through close reading of selected works, students learn to attend to the textures of language, form, and structure and explore how meaning emerges through these elements in dialogue with the reader. Emphasizing reading as an active, dialogic, and imaginative practice, the course invites students to consider how literature expands the creative possibilities of language and deepens our understanding of life and human experience.
