In this course, you will strengthen academic writing skills through guided practice, in-class workshops, and revision. We begin by reviewing core paragraph concepts—summarizing, paraphrasing, quoting, and avoiding plagiarism—then move to essay writing and development.

Over the semester, you will write and revise two major essay types: the Process Analysis Essay and the Argumentative Essay. You will apply writing strategies and grammar knowledge to each assignment, participate in peer review, and use feedback from classmates and the instructor to improve your drafts. You will also receive guidance on how to give constructive, effective feedback and earn credit for the quality of the feedback you provide.
