Course Introduction:
Advances in display and camera technology enable new applications for three-dimensional scene communication. When multiple video cameras are used to simultaneously acquire various viewpoints of a scene, the resulting data is called multi-view videos. Due to the huge raw data of multi-view video, efficient compression techniques are essential for 3D scene communication. In this course, the key technique for multi-view video coding will be presented. It begins with the introduction of the video coding standard HEVC, followed by stereo/multi-view video coding. The last part introduces a free view video where the virtual video information will be rendered by the multi-view video.
