English Composition IV is a required English Composition course for students majoring in Foreign Languages who have successfully completed English Composition I, II, and III. It provides students with systematic practice in the elements of English composition, especially thesis, focus, paragraphing, rhetorical patterns and the elements of basic research.
Course time will be devoted primarily to discussions of reading assignments, writing assignment previews, group work, and occasional videos/movies. On several occasions, students will use the entire period to write an in-class essay. When necessary, grammar and structure exercises will also be included. Students will be required to complete and hand in frequent writing assignments.
