This course aims to help student develop communication skills, both written and spoken, in academic contexts. Particularly, this course helps students analyze and orally summarize reading and listening materials from a variety of genres in National Geographic. In addition, this course also helps student develop speaking skills in discussion and seminars. In terms of written communication skills, this course helps students develop academic writing skills in both paragraphs and essays. Students will use appropriate academic structure, correct sentence pattern and apply evaluation criteria to revise and evaluate the quality of academic essays. Most importantly, this course will foster students' integrated skills in academic English and inspire critical thinking.
