This course aims to introduce students to linguistics with a focus on the use of language in society, language change, (second) language acquisition, and language and human brain. It is expected that students will obtain a basic understanding of issues in the above areas and learn to appreciate language as a complex social, historic, psychological, and neurological phenomenon.
