課程介紹與教學目標 Course Description and Objectives
This course cultivates students’ English communication ability in speaking, listening, and interacting with others. It aims to help class members start thinking, talking, writing, and communicating in an all-English environment. Class attendance is important as we will have constant practices and exercises.
Classes will include discussion of current affairs, watching and discussion of short films and tv shows, listening to and discussing podcasts, audiobooks and radio broadcasts, in addition to textbook led classes.
This is an all-English class. No languages other than English are allowed.

1) Develop skills and confidence in English speaking and listening.
2) Develop some abilities in understanding and using more complex vocabularies
3) Develop an academic lexicon

課程要求Course Requirements
You will need to bring a pen and pad to make notes, and make contributions to discussions. You should prepare for each seminar by reading the text or texts set, and reviewing course materials. You should also practice speaking English regularly, and listen to English radio and watch English TV and movies. You will be required to produce a 15-minute informative group presentation or video essay on a course topic, which will be assessed (10% -mid-term). There will also be a speaking exam (20%) based on an observed group discussion on a provided topic) and a listening exam (20%).

學習評量與成績配分Assessment and Grade Distribution
Attendance 50% Group Presentation/video essay: 10%, Speaking Exam 20%, Listening Exam 20%. Those who miss 4 sessions or more will fail.
